Privacy
notice.
Last updated: 27 October 2026
This notice explains how The Wheel at Worfield ("we", "us") handles personal information on this website. We've tried to keep it plain and to describe only what the site actually does.
Who is responsible for your information
The Wheel at Worfield, A454 Bridgnorth Road, Worfield, Bridgnorth, Shropshire, WV15 5NR, is responsible for the personal information described here (the data controller). You can get in touch about anything in this notice by calling us on 01746 716392 or by asking at the bar.
Reading the site
You can read every page without giving any personal information. The site has no user accounts, no comments, no advertising trackers and no analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare's servers receive technical information when your browser requests a page, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested. Cloudflare uses this to deliver the site and protect it against attacks and abuse. Cloudflare acts as our service provider (processor). See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
The pages use fonts from Google Fonts. To show them, your browser fetches the font files from Google's servers, so Google receives your IP address and basic browser information. Google says it uses this only to provide the fonts. See Google's privacy policy.
Booking and getting in touch
There's no booking or contact form on this website. You book by phone or by messaging us on Facebook. When you do, we use the details you give us, such as your name, phone number and booking details, only to manage your booking and reply to you. If you tell us about an allergy or dietary need, we use it only to prepare your food safely. Messages sent through Facebook are handled by Meta under its own privacy policy.
The pub quiz leaderboard
You can play the quiz without giving any personal information.
While you play: when you start a game, our server records a game code, the time you started and your IP address. We use these only to time the game fairly and to stop the quiz being flooded with automated games. The IP address isn't linked to your name and is deleted automatically, normally within 24 hours.
If you add your name: at the end of a game you can choose to add a name to the leaderboard. We store the name you type (up to 20 characters, so a first name or nickname is fine), your score and your time. These are shown publicly on the quiz page, on that day's board, under previous days, and as the fastest of the week. Names containing offensive words are refused automatically. Please don't enter anything you wouldn't want other people to see.
Legal basis: your consent, which you give by choosing to add your name. For the game code and IP address, our legitimate interest in keeping the quiz fair and working.
How long it's kept: leaderboard names aren't deleted automatically; they stay on the board until we remove them. If you'd like your name taken off, just ask us.
The quiz runs on Cloudflare, which stores the leaderboard for us as our service provider.
Gift pages and affiliate links
Our gift pages link to products sold by other companies. Some of those links are affiliate links: if you buy through them, The Wheel may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. The retailer sells and delivers the product, not us.
Amazon: The Wheel at Worfield is a participant in the Amazon Associates programme. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Links marked "View on Amazon" go straight to amazon.co.uk and include our Associates tag, which tells Amazon the visit came from this site. When you click one, Amazon may place or recognise cookies on your browser so it can credit the referral. See the Amazon.co.uk Privacy Notice.
Awin and other networks: links to other shops (for example hamper, whisky and pizza-oven retailers) may run through the Awin affiliate network. When you click one, Awin and the retailer may place or recognise cookies on your browser to record that you came from here. See Awin's privacy policy and the retailer's own policy.
We don't receive your name, contact details or what you buy. Nothing is tracked on this site when you click a link: any cookies are set by Amazon, Awin or the retailer on their own websites, under their own privacy and cookie policies.
Other links
The site also links to other websites, such as our Facebook and Instagram pages, Google Maps for directions and Drinkaware. If you click a link and visit another site, that site may set its own cookies. Those sites are responsible for their own privacy and cookie practices, so please check their policies.
Who receives your information
We don't sell personal information. The services that handle it for us are Cloudflare (hosting and the quiz) and Google (fonts, as explained above). Both are large international providers and may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Where they do, they're required to protect it with the safeguards UK data protection law requires.
Cookies
This site doesn't set any cookies for visitors and doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies, so there's no cookie banner. The quiz doesn't use cookies. Google Fonts doesn't set cookies. If you click through to Amazon or another shop, that site may place or recognise cookies on your browser, as explained above. A separate, password-protected area of the site for our staff uses one cookie to keep staff signed in, which is strictly necessary for it to work. It's not part of the public website.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct it if it's wrong;
- ask us to delete it;
- ask us to restrict how it's used, or object to its use;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent;
- receive your information in a portable format, where that applies.
To use any of these rights, call us on 01746 716392 or ask at the bar. We'll respond within one month. There's no charge. You can read more about your rights on the ICO website.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how your information has been handled, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
